Editorial Policy

The site has two kinds of writing, and we hold them to different standards on purpose.

• The library — the themed collections and the long-form guides. This is published editorial content: selected, edited and arranged by Banale Editorial, and meant to be read the way you would read a small poetry magazine.
• The composer — the tool that writes a brand-new verse for you on demand, and the single verse of the day. That output is generated live by AI for one reader, is labelled as such, and belongs to your moment rather than to our library.

Every verse in our collections is original work created for this site. We never reproduce the couplets of classical or modern poets — Ghalib, Mir, Iqbal, Kabir, Tulsidas or anyone else. Their tradition informs the craft; the words here are our own. Before a verse is published we check that it does not reproduce or closely paraphrase a known sher, and we avoid the stock phrases that circulate endlessly in forwarded images. If a verse ever looks too close to an existing poem, we want to know — see “Corrections” below.

We are transparent about our process: we use AI writing tools in drafting, the way a modern newsroom might, and a human editor decides what gets published. Drafts are produced in-house against our own style rules — metre and qaafiya-radif where the form calls for it, family-safe imagery, sadness that keeps a crack of light. An editor then selects, edits, arranges and rejects; most drafts are never published. The collection introductions, usage guides, FAQs and long-form guides are editorial writing maintained by Banale Editorial and reviewed on the date shown on each page.

The same rules bind the library and the composer, enforced by a curated denylist and model safety filters on both input and output.

• No content that demeans any religion, caste or community.
• No verses about politicians or parties, and no images of religious figures anywhere on the site.
• Romantic verses stay tender, never explicit; every page is safe to open in a family WhatsApp group.
• Sad shayari may ache, but it never glorifies despair or self-harm.

If a verse looks too close to an existing poem, if a translation reads wrong, or if you want something removed, write to support@banale.in. A real person reads every message, and fixes ship within days, not months. Each editorial page shows the date it was last reviewed.

Shayari is free to read and supported by advertising (Google AdSense). Ads are visually separate from the verses, never appear inside a poem, and have no influence on what we publish. We do not accept payment to place verses, names or links inside our collections.
